The Secret of Feline Meditation: Cassie and Colombin's Journey

Cassie and Colombin: The Secret of the Dancing Silence

Introduction: The Sanctuary with the Blue Curtains

In the sanctuary of my bedroom, the outside world seemed to gently fade away. Behind the large blue curtains that softened the daylight, a deep sense of peace reigned. It was a warm, secret temple filled with the gentle scent of lavender, the warmth of a cozy blanket, and, above all, the sacred vibrations of Hindu mantras softly echoing through the air.

Here, we practiced Buddhism and meditation. Every day, a ritual of serenity took place amidst the cushions. But this sanctuary was not a solitary one: it was guarded by two magnificent felines with coats of fire.

First, there was Cassie. Cassie was an absolutely majestic seven-year-old cat. A Maine Coon and tortoiseshell cross, she possessed the noble stature of her ancestors, with large tufts of fur at the tips of her ears, a queenly ruff, and a thick coat where black, red, and cream beautifully intertwined. Cassie was the true guardian of the bedroom. But her greatest unique trait was her love for Hindu mantras. The moment the sacred Sanskrit chants began to diffuse their soothing notes, her large Maine Coon ears would quiver with delight. She would then approach with a deeply serene expression, ready to immerse herself in the meditation.

And then, there was Colombin.

Colombin was a very young female kitten, also a tortoiseshell. A tiny mosaic of pure energy, her coat was a joyful blend of dark and golden patches, as if a painter had playfully shaken a brush over her. While Cassie embodied quiet strength and spiritual devotion, young Colombin was a true whirlwind. For her, the bedroom was a vast territory to explore. The tassels of the blue curtains, the pens on the desk, or any movement under the blanket were perfect excuses to do somersaults and jump in every direction.

Meditating in silence in this sanctuary with these two companions was a unique experience. How could one combine Cassie's mystical fervor, young Colombin's joyful playfulness, and the search for inner peace? This is the path of connection we are about to explore.

Chapter 1: The Sound of Om and the Awakening of the Ears

Every afternoon, the ritual began in the exact same way. The human would sit on the rug in the middle of the bedroom, close their eyes, and play a playlist of soft Hindu mantras. The sacred, primordial sound of "Om" would begin to vibrate through the room.

From the very first notes, Cassie’s behavior would change. Resting on the bed, she would open her large amber eyes. With a slow, graceful step, she would climb down and approach the human. She would sit right in front of them, proudly straightening her large Maine Coon body. She would slowly close her eyes to the rhythm of the music, seeming to recite the mantra inside her cat heart. To her, these Hindu sounds were not mere noise; they were a gentle caress for her soul.

But the calm of the blue room was quickly interrupted. Colombin, curious to see Cassie so still, came running across the wooden floor. For the little tortoiseshell kitten, meditation was a complete enigma. She began gently nibbling the tip of Cassie's bushy tail, then tried to catch the human's hands resting in a cup shape on their knees.

"Gently, little Colombin," the human whispered softly without opening their eyes.

Cassie opened one eye, let out a soft, very dignified meow of warning toward the kitten, and then leaned even closer to the human, pressing her warm side against their legs. By doing this, Cassie was showing the little one how it was done: anchoring oneself in the present moment, listening to the vibration of the mantra, and letting the stillness settle in.

Chapter 2: The Dance of the Tortoiseshells

In ancient legends, tortoiseshell cats are considered magical creatures, born from the light of the sun and the earth. Having two females of this coat in the same bedroom was like having two small protective suns.

One day, while the Gayatri Mantra was resonating in the room, the human observed their two companions. Cassie was lying in a sphinx position, her head held high, listening to the sacred words asking the divine light to illuminate our minds. Her long Maine Coon fur floated slightly in the gentle breeze of the fan.

Beside her, Colombin had finally stopped running. Intrigued by the repetitive and reassuring melody of the mantra, she sat down, observing the golden patterns of her own fur under a ray of sunlight filtering through the blue curtains.

The human then understood that Eastern philosophies teach us to respect the natural rhythm of every living being ():

Cassie’s rhythm was one of wisdom and contemplation, enriched by her seven years of life.

Colombin’s rhythm was one of discovery, learning, and play, natural to her young age.

Harmony in the bedroom did not require Colombin to instantly become as quiet as Cassie. Harmony lived in the fact that the big cat, the little kitten, and the human shared the same space of love, each in their own way.

Chapter 3: The Meditation of the Sacred Hum

To help Colombin feel the peace that Cassie loved so much, the human decided to try a tactile meditation to the sound of the « Om Namah Shivaya » mantra.

The human lay down on the bedroom rug, arms open. Cassie immediately came to lie on their chest, her large, heavy, and protective body bringing a magnificent feeling of grounding. Colombin, not wanting to be left out, came to snuggle right in the crook of the human's neck, her small kitten size fitting perfectly into that space.

The Hindu mantra continued to sing in the background. The human began to hum the refrain very softly in harmony with the music:

Feeling the human’s voice vibrate in their chest, Cassie began to purr very loudly. Her Maine Coon purr was deep, almost shamanic, aligning perfectly with the tempo of the mantra. A few moments later, Colombin’s lighter, quicker purring joined in.

In this triangle of sweetness, the silence of the bedroom became a silence dressed in sacred music and living vibrations. The little tortoiseshell kitten finally closed her eyes, calmed by the power of the mantra and the safety of her feline family. The restlessness of the day evaporated, leaving behind a golden peace.

Chapter 4: The Ritual of the Bell and the Blue Curtain

When evening came, the lights in the bedroom were turned off, leaving only a soft nightlight. The blue curtains were drawn close, protecting the sanctuary from the noises of the street.

Before sleeping, the human gently rang a small Tibetan bell. The crystal-clear sound floated through the bedroom. Cassie, perched on her favorite spot on the bed, let out a sigh of well-being. To her, this sound and the last whispers of the end-of-day mantra were the signal that everything was safe.

Colombin made one last little leap to catch an imaginary thread near the bed, then slid under the blanket, right against Cassie's back. The large tortoiseshell cat wrapped her protective paw around the kitten and began to gently groom her forehead.

The human looked at them with immense gratitude. Their bedroom was not just a place to sleep; it was a true little ashram, a place of awakening and tenderness where two feline souls and one human soul learned the most beautiful mantra of all: that of unconditional love.

Epilogue: Everyday Awakening

The days went by in the sanctuary with the blue curtains. Cassie continued to guide the meditations with her royal presence and her love for Hindu chants. Colombin, little by little, learned to appreciate these quiet moments, discovering that stopping for a moment to listen to the sacred music did infinite good to her little kitten heart.

The human realized that meditation did not need to be austere or difficult. It could be soft, colorful like a tortoiseshell coat, and vibrant like the sacred songs that warmed their sanctuary every single day.
